“Step Up Your Game!”

The story behind this year’s theme.  One day after listening to a landlord talk of his goals and the many challenges he was facing as a landlord, I realized (and so did he), that the thing that most often is stopping us from reaching our big real estate goals and/or maximum wealth from rental property is not our lack of desire.  Instead, the thing stopping us from achieving far greater success is “our inability to be truly effective and proficient in our management and investing skills.”

 

There is a reason that people go to school for additional years to get higher degrees to become more skillful.  In many professions, the top paid people are the ones who have either invested time and money in extended schooling or who are often engaged in additional training opportunities to become better at what they do.  Yet, we as rental owners and real estate investors merely “dabble” at what we do.  Sure, like everybody, we desire to become wealthy.  But desire is not enough.  Desire must translate to seeking out ways to improve your skills.  Most “so-called” real estate investors hardly ever take extended periods of training or courses to improve upon our skills and yet we wonder why we are not significantly increasing our income, reaching our real estate goals faster, or why we are not mastering the real estate challenges we face.

 

Last year’s Convention encouraged attendees to “Enlarge Your Vision!”  That is a critical “first” step, because you can’t go to the next level if you don’t have a vision for where you want to go.  This year, however, let’s add skillful actions to that vision and desire.  I am convinced that as rental owners, if we regularly take time to learn how to STEP UP OUR GAME and become more skillful and proficient at how we run our rentals and real estate investing business, you WILL have far greater success, income and freedom and accomplish it in much faster time periods!  If you’re ready to Step Up Your Game, Click here now to Register.

A website visitor recently asked on the popular MrLandlord.com Q & A forum, “Is landlording and real estate investing a slow way to wealth?  The average landlord has less than 20 rentals.  By the time your properties are paid off, you are old with many health problems.  How many real millionaires under 60 do you know that made it self-made by being a landlord?”

My response is that it does NOT have to be a slow process, if you treat it as a business, get and stay educated, and take action. I know hundreds of landlords under 60 who are real millionaires. In fact, I will be reuniting with several dozen of them in two weeks on the annual Mr. Landlord Getaway Cruise Conference.

Your right, landlording is small-scale for most landlords. However, please DON’T let that limit your vision of what’s possible for you. The truth of the matter, whatever business you pick, limited success is the case for the majority of people. But again, don’t let that limit your vision, especially during these times. Right now there are probably more landlords becoming new millionaires than in any other time.

I challenge you in 2013 to step up your game and most importantly start hanging around people who ARE becoming millionaires. There are actually many millionaire landlords. You will not hear them boasting about it, but trust me they are here.

Over the years, the landlords who I have watched become self-made millionaires, take action, get educated, buy real estate courses, attend workshops, conference and bootcamps. While I know, many people are cynical of courses and bootcamps (and for good reason), that cynicism also has stopped many landlords from reaching higher goals.

Instead of taking action and calculated risks by attending trainings, they scoff at the idea of spending even a few hundred bucks or dare I say a thousand to educate themselves. Mind you, they want to become millionaires, yet the majority of people, think this can happen by reading a couple of $20 books and gathering all the free information they can on the internet. It’s no wonder it’s a slow go for most.

YES there are thousands of landlords becoming self-made millionaires. And with the right mentors, actions, training, associates/associations and, knowledge, it does NOT have to take you until you are 60 to reach financial freedom.

That’s why I’m hoping that many of you will consider joining me this year for the MrLandlord.com National Convention in Nashville. “What’s Holding You Back?”

Another MrLandlord.com Q & A visitor asked, “Is the lack of cash/financing or knowledge holding them back from buying more real estate?”

My response is that so many allow the lack of cash/financing to hold them back when it does not need to.  Sure, financing may stop a particular deal or two from happenning.  But there are SO MANY DEALS that can be found or “uncovered” where typical financing is not needed, that it’s not even funny.  And not to say it is the case with you but the problem with most landlords/investors is that they are looking for the traditional methods to buy and manage real estate, when what is needed, is for them to expand their vision beyond the traditional methods and limitations.

I think that the person who asked this question already knows the answer.  With knowledge, you can learn ways to own and control more real estate. Trust me, I am a personal example of that. If I had waited on financing or money to be right, I would still be in the first house my wife and I bought 30 years ago.

It was because I continually exposed myself to numerous real estate instructors (and still do) over the years who have literally opened my eyes and shared knowledge that has enabled me to learn various ways to invest in real estate and buy hundreds of rentals over the years.  I’ll say it again, money does NOT need to be your bottleneck.  Join us at the Convention this year and learn how others have not let the lack of personal money slow down their growth.
